I bought these for cycling in the cold (20s and 30s F). I was hoping they'd keep my fingers from going numb, but they didn't, even with the liners in. Numbness and pain set in after only 10 minutes when biking at 30 degrees in the early morning darkness. A smaller negative is that they don't have a soft strip of material on the back to wipe your nose as many cycling-specific mittens and gloves have. On the positive side, they're as warm or warmer than any other mitten I've tried, they look nice, and the liner mittens are great on their own for running when it's about 40 degrees F.
